About ACE*

The Action Community Engagement (ACE) Project was developed to improve health and well being by strengthening positive age beliefs and challenging ageism. It involves participating in a set of 6 group sessions and then launching projects to share the ideas with the Forest Park community. The ACE sessions feature science and observations from the book Breaking the Age Code: How Your Age Beliefs Determine How Long and Well you LIve by ACE Investigator Dr. Becca Levy.. = ACE is made possible by a generous grant from the Smith Tieken Foundation. Principal Investigators of the ACE project are Dr. Becca Levy (Yale University) and Dr. Monika Robinson (Midwestern University) and with Community Leads Marc Blesoff and Pamela Mahn, and Project Manager Dr. Julie Bach and Community Projects Manager Terri Powell

VALUING AGE, CONFRONTING AGEISM

The Madison Street Photo Exhibit

Over the past several months, 20 Forest Park residents, 60 years or older. participated in the ACE sessions led by their fellow Forest Park leaders. The ACE participants are now sharing their insights through a series of their photographs and commentary on display in the windows of Forest Park businesses through the end of July.

We want to thank the local businesses who offered space in their windows to display these photos. Stroll down Madison Street, study these photos and commentary and think about how you think about getting older and how older people are treated by society. Does this exhibit widen your perspective? You may want to start your own conversation

You may want to start your own conversation about how your views on ageism are supported or challenged.

We also want to thank Pamela Jean Tinnen for her creativity and advice in producing the exhibition.
